Advanced Technologies & Systems We Utilize:
Digital X-rays

X-rays are an integral part of your dental care. If it has been some time since you had a mouth x-ray, you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised at the comfort, speed, and safety of digital x-rays. The precise images provided by digital x-rays not only help us protect your dental and overall health, but they can also prevent more costly and time intensive treatments in the future. Additionally, the high-speed film used in digital x-ray machines minimizes radiation exposure, making digital x-rays very safe. They can even be used during pregnancy, and some studies suggest that digital x-rays emit up to 90% less radiation than conventional x-rays!
Intraoral Camera
Using this camera, we can give you a “tour” of your mouth, live on a TV screen. We also use the intraoral camera to guide you through your diagnosis and treatment options, which keeps you at the center of your treatment plans. We want you to feel informed every step of the way, so you can make smart choices for your oral health and smile.
Sealants to Protect Against Decay
Dental sealants are applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth with deep grooves (premolars and molars in particular) to help protect them against decay. Composed of a plastic resin material, sealants create a “barrier” between the enamel of the teeth and harmful bacteria and plaque. They are durable under normal chewing loads and typically last several years (up to 10, if the surfaces are not under a great deal of bite pressure). Sealants are commonly thought to be just for children, but patients of any age can benefit from this easy and effective preventive measure against tooth decay. Inquire at your next visit if you could benefit from sealants.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Composite fillings can be adhesively held in place, or “bonded.” Because they can be bonded to teeth, composite fillings allow for more conservative preparations where less healthy tooth structure is removed. This often results in smaller fillings than that of amalgam (silver fillings), and they are more natural looking. The tooth-colored material is cured with an intense light and the surface is shaped and polished to match the tooth, rending the final restoration virtually undetectable to the eye and very natural feeling in the mouth. Ask us about restoring your old silver fillings.

Root Canal Therapy
When a tooth’s sensitive nerve structure, located deep beneath the top two layers of the tooth, becomes inflamed or infected, an abscess forms at the tooth’s root. This can cause a number of other issues to arise in surrounding teeth and gum tissues, not to mention a great deal of pain. If Dr. Yu notices such an irregularity in one of your teeth, he might recommend root canal therapy to remove the damaged tissue and relieve your discomfort. Because the nerve is not vitally important to the tooth’s everyday function, root canal therapy is highly effective and can save a tooth to make it last a lifetime. Especially when this procedure is used in conjunction with a restoration such as a porcelain crown or composite filling, no one will even notice a difference in your smile.
